Crackle Top Chocolate Spice Cookies
by Beverly Lucey

We got this recipe from a writer who calls them Humiliation Cookies. You shouldn't call them that....but she does, after having an embarrassing experience in which Jack Canfield, of Chicken Soup fame, played a large, if inadvertent part.

Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.

1/4 cup plain bread crumbs

3 squares good unsweetened chocolate

2 TBsp Wondra (any presifted flour)

2 cups walnuts or pecans

3/4 tsp cinnamon

1 cup granulated sugar

3/4 tsp ground cloves

1/8 tsp salt

powdered sugar

2 large eggs (beaten lightly)

Grate chocolate and nuts in a food processor. In a large bowl, blend sugar and salt into the beaten eggs. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Combine crumbs, flour and spices, then add to bowl.

Roll dough into one inch balls with your hands. Roll into the powdered sugar. Place on a buttered cookie sheet in a 325 degree oven. Bake about 15 minutes until the tops crackle.
